Get Your Outdoor Sign Approved

One of the best ways to draw people into your business (or just help them find you) is signage. Yet, in many places, local ordinances make creating and displaying useful signage difficult.

Last week the Intuit Small Business Blog tackled this problem by offering seven strategies for getting that sign past the necessary hurdles. Here are some of the highlights that stuck out to us:

  • Use experts. There are sign associations that are experts at fighting unconstitutional regulations on signage.
  • Watch out for political fallout and dirty tricks. City councils can be devious when it comes to signage.
  • Respect the aesthetics of the community. One of the best ways to get your sign approved is to make sure it fits in the overall community’s décor.
