QuickBooks Support Options

As perhaps the most versatile and powerful accounting package available today for small and medium sized businesses, QuickBooks can get complex. To be sure, the QuickBooks interface is more intuitive and easy to use than many competitors, but there are intricacies that require a certain level of expertise to master. For those functions, you need to turn to someone else for support.

There are several QuickBooks support options, each with their own benefits and each of which is useful for certain situations:

  • Intuit knowledge-base support. The QuickBooks support website offers answers to many of the basic issues surrounding QuickBooks use, and is usually the best place to start for quick answers.
  • Telephone support. You can get telephone-based support for QuickBooks by calling 888-859-4056. You can often find answers you need here, however you’re likely to be required to pay a fee and may have a significant wait time.
  • Community support. The community forums at the QuickBooks website are an opportunity for free support from other QuickBooks users. Forum support usually requires a great deal of searching and/or waiting for replies, so it’s not ideal if you’re in a hurry.
  • QuickBooks ProAdvisors. ProAdvisors are experts certified by Intuit for their knowledge and experience with QuickBooks. Often, ProAdvisors are CPA, accounting professionals, or small business experts and can give a real-world perspective on whatever QuickBooks issue you’re having.

So, which support option do you use? It really depends on your situation. If you have a quick “how-to” question, you can probably find it fast (and free) in the knowledge base. If you have a more intricate problem and time isn’t an issue, you might look to the forums. If you want a relatively fast solution and need that real-world perspective, a ProAdvisor is usually your best bet.

Many small businesses benefit from having a relationship with a ProAdvisor, mainly because they can come to know your business and how you use QuickBooks, and their solutions are custom-tailored to your needs.
